Multiple Teams · Bexley seizes “Golden” opportunity!

The Bexley City School Board approved the hiring of Mike Golden as the Lions’ next Varsity Football Coach on Monday, March 11th.

With a record of 217-98 over his 28 years as a Head Coach, Golden brings a wealth of experience and a track record of proven success. Coach Golden was inducted into the Central District Football Coaches Hall of Fame in 2017, and was awarded the OHSAA Sportsmanship Ethics & Integrity Award in 2016. He won a State Championship at Bishop Watterson in 2002 and was a 2016 inductee to the Bishop Watterson Athletic Hall of Fame. After retiring from Watterson in 2002, Coach Golden went on to Coach at New Albany, Upper Arlington, and Delaware. “More than the many accolades, and there are too many to count, it is his positive approach to everything he does which left the biggest impression on me. He has a level of confidence and enthusiasm about him that is inspiring.

I’m very excited for our kids and our community. I am looking forward to working with Mike and know that our football program is in great hands.” said Athletic Director Eli Goldberger.
