On September 9th the Bexley Athletic Department will have speakers from Nationwide Children’s Hospital conduct a symposium on the 360 degrees of care for Student Athletes at Bexley City Schools. Several speakers will be presenting including:
Bexley’s team physician.Dr. James MacDonald, MD, MPH, team physician and physician for Nationwide Children’s Sports Medicine. Dr. MacDonald is an Associate Professor in the Department of Pediatrics and Family Medicine at Ohio State University’s College of Medicine. Fellowship trained and board certified in sports medicine, Dr.MacDonald is a member of the American College of Sports Medicine, the American Medical Society for Sports Medicine and the American Academy of Family Physicians. He attended Harvard Medical School and completed a Family Practice Residency at Maine-Dartmouth in Augusta, Maine, and a Sports Medicine Fellowship at Boston Children’s Hospital in Massachusetts. A member of the USA Swimming Medical Task Force, he is the Deputy Editor of the Clinical Journal of Sports Medicine.

Jessica Buschmann, MS, RD, CSSD, LD, is the first registered dietitian Board Certified Specialist in Sports Dietetics on staff for the Sports Medicine department at Nationwide Children’s Hospital. She is registered by the Commission on Dietetic Registration and licensed by the Ohio Board of Dietetics. She has been employed at Nationwide Children’s Hospital for 4 years. In addition to her roles at Nationwide Children’s, she is an adjunct professor at Otterbein University within the Health and Sports Sciences Department.

Jessica is a member of numerous professional committees including The Collegiate and Professional Sports Dietitians Association (CPSDA), International Female Athlete Triad Coalition, Ohio Chapter of The American Academy of Pediatrics, and the Home and School Health Committee (HASH). Jessica’s professional interests include Female Athlete Triad management and prevention, employee wellness, and meal planning for optimal sports performance.

Jesse Padgett MS, CSCS, SCCC is a Sports Performance Specialist for Nationwide Children’s Hospital Sports Medicine. He is a certified strength & conditioning specialist through the National Strength & Conditioning Association and Strength and Conditioning Coach Certified through the Collegiate Strength and Conditioning Coaches association.
Prior to coming to Bexley, Jesse spent 7 years as a strength and conditioning coach at The Ohio State University. Jesse began his coaching career as an intern for The Ohio State University, Olympic Sports before becoming the strength and conditioning coordinator for Olentangy Liberty High School. He also spent time as a strength and conditioning coach for Elite Volleyball.Jesse earned his BA from Ohio University and MS from California University of Pennsylvania.
