Bexley Swimmers Sweep Senior Day
BEXLEY, Ohio – The Bexley swim team hosted a double-dual home meet against Bloom Carroll and Centennial this past Saturday at the Aqua-Lions home, Columbus School for Girls. The girls came into the meet with a third place finish out of eight-teams and the boys won Friday night’s Columbus Academy Viking Invitational.
Coach Fries said of his team, “No jet lag was noticed as we handled both opponents and it was especially nice to get big wins on these seniors Senior Day celebration.”
Senior Captains Hunter Johnson, Danner Rogers and Ilsa Evans, as well as Seniors Leah Stamm, Liam Dixon, Harrison Dupler, Katie Benedict, Miles Sanford and Spencer Graham were honored at the midpoint break of the meet. Each celebrated their final meet with a tradition of picking their favorite events and being honored by the Juniors on the team while presenting to the crowd with parents and siblings.

Individual Event winners for the Aqua Lions were Leah Stamm (100 Free, 100 Breast), Hunter Johnson (200 Free, 100 Fly), Olivia Mitchell (500 Free), Ally Grieshop (200 IM), Quinn Hall (200 IM) Bridget O’reilly (100 Fly), Nicholas Minkin (50 Free, 500 Free), Ilsa Evans (50 Free)
Bexley enters the championship stretch of their season over the next five weeks. You can catch the Aqua Lions next week in the MSL League Championships, the following week at the JV Championship meet and on February 8, at Sectionals. With strong performances from the girls and boys’ swimmers thus far, Coach Fries expects many Lions to qualify for Districts and hopefully States.
