BEXLEY, Ohio – The Ohio High School Athletics Association (OHSAA) released 2020 Sectional, District and State tournament brackets on Oct. 1. Bexley’s football team and boys and girls golf teams each received bids to compete in the post season.
The Bexley Lions football team (0-4) received the 22-seed in the Division IV, Region 15 playoffs and will play the 11-seeded Carrollton Warriors (3-2) at Carrollton High School on Saturday, Oct. 10 at 7 p.m. The winner of the Lions-Warriors matchup will go on to play the sixth ranked Marion-Franklin Red Devils (2-0) at Marion-Franklin High School on Saturday, Oct. 17 at 7 p.m.
Per OHSAA’s website, football tournament tickets will only be available for player’s family members and the Bexley Athletic Department will send out a code to purchase tickets five days prior to the game.
Before playoff action begins, the Lions will play host to the Bishop Ready Silver Knights (3-2) in the regular season finale at Carlton Smith Stadium tonight at 7 p.m.
The Bexley girls golf team received the 27-seed in the 2020 Sectional tournament and will tee off against Olentangy Orange (31), Thomas Worthington (33) and Westerville North (34) at Blacklick Woods Golf Course on Tuesday, Oct. 6. at 9:50 a.m. Following Sectionals, the Lions will have the chance to showcase their skills in the District tournament on Tuesday, Oct. 13 at New Albany Links. The Division I state tournament will begin for the girls on Friday and Saturday, Oct. 23 and 24 at the Ohio State University’s Gray Course. Numbers in parenthesis indicate seeding.
The Bexley boys golf team received the 13-seed in the 2020 Sectional tournament and will tee off against Dublin Jerome (2), Olentangy Orange (4) and Westerville Central (5) at Denison Golf Club of Granville on Wednesday, Oct. 7. Between 9 and 9:40 a.m. Following Sectionals, the Lions will compete in the District tournament at Apple Valley Golf Course on Tuesday, Oct. 13. The Division I state tournament will begin for the boys on Friday and Saturday, Oct. 23 and 24 at the Ohio State University’s Scarlet Course. Numbers in parenthesis indicate seeding.
