The Girls Soccer Team won its first League Title since 2011 by beating Whitehall on Oct. 14th. The Varsity Squad finished Mid State League play with a record of 6 wins, 1 loss, and 1 tie. The team scored a league high of 31 goals and only conceded 5 goals with 4 shutouts.

In league play, the Lady Lions were led by junior Grace Heilman (8 goals, 3 assists), senior captain Aly Cox (4 goals, 3 assists), freshman Isabel Niermeyer (2 goals, 4 assists), sophomore Sofie Sheridan (2 goals, 2 assists) and junior Ava Joseph (2 goals, 2 assists). The defense was led by seniors Lauren Fournier, Sammi Nack, captain Brooke Cowan, juniors Lillian Hoyer and Ivy Simpson. Lastly, goalkeepers – junior captain Katie Jude (5 wins and 3 goals against) and sophomore Lily Cochran (1 win, 1 tie and 2 goals against) were instrumental in keeping the opponent’s shots from hitting the back of the net.

Despite losing to rival Columbus Academy and overcoming several injuries, the Lady Lions were able to beat 2 state ranked teams in Grandview and Wellington on back to back nights. The Lady Lions are gearing up for a tournament run and will battle Hamilton Township at home on Oct 24th.
