Lions News · Girls Track and Field Team Dominates Bexley Relays

The girls track and field team dominated the Bexley Relays winning 8 of the 12 events and outscoring runner up Columbus School for Girls 80 – 58. The sophomore sister duo of Sydnie Smith and Ellie Smith won both the shot put and discus relays.  Their combined effort of 186 ft 2 inches in the discus is a new two person relay school record. Also in the field, Sophie Sheridan and Jenna Plank won the long jump and Hayley Heideman and Bethany Kok finished second in the high jump.
The team also had a record breaking night on the track. The lap medley team of Hannah Hayden, Karleigh Place, Maria Steinke, and Claire MacDonald tied a 25 year old school record with their time of 13:24.7. Place, Steinke, Hayden, and Ally Grieshop won the 4X800, and MacDonald, Place, Grieshop, and Addison Helon won the 4X1600. The sprint relay team of Plank, Sheridan, Ava Resier, and Isabel Niermeyer won the 4X100 and finished 2nd in a close 4X200. The shuttle hurdle team of Selah Foster, Laney Luper, Ryann Donahey, also finished first.
